Small Dementia Care Home for Personalised Care
1. Our much-loved residentsOur residents are the reason that we come to work. Their contentment and good health are our main goal. Each individual's needs and preferences must be met. As St. Cecilia is a small care home, every resident receives the attention they need. We look beyond the dementia to find the person within.

The Personal Touch
We see our residents as individuals....although not all them support West Ham! We encourage residents to bring with them any treasured personal belongings, whether pictures, items of furniture or even football scarves. Families and friends can help by providing any objects which reassure our residents or connect them with their past.
The family-oriented atmosphere at St Cecilia encourages all of our carers to be familiar with the personal preferences of each resident. Person-centred care is the driving force behind our approach to individual well-being.
From knowing how each resident likes their preferred beverage to ensuring Brian knows the football scores, we care!

2. A Day in the Life...
There is a loose framework for each day. Residents are not obliged to follow this structure, though many find it useful.
3. Activities
Rated 'excellent' in our last CQC inspection report, our varied activities programme stimulates and entertains our residents and staff.
Brighter Days Simon Turner, of Brighter Days, has been organising activities at St. Cecilia for over 11 years. He comes twice a week and knows each resident personally. In keeping with St. Cecilia philosophy, Simon is determined to seek out the individual strengths of all our residents. Simon uses a well-tried framework of exercise, recreation and motivation for elderly people with great energy and humour. Music In 1988, Robert chose the name Saint Cecilia for his care home. This was no accident as music, especially opera, has always been his first love. Good quality music is life-enhancing. It provides a stimulating backdrop throughout the day and makes special occasions even more memorable. St. Cecilia has regular singalongs. These are wonderful occasions, enjoyed by staff and residents alike. As with all our activities, we welcome the participation of all families and friends and invite them to join us for a cup of tea afterwards. Caring Canines Jazz and Jaffa, friendly Newfoundlands, are regular and welcome visitors to St Cecilia, and much loved by our residents. |

4. Family and Friends
Family and friends are warmly welcomed into our home at any time. We encourage them to continue to play a pivotal role in the lives of our residents. Residents can receive visitors in the communal areas or in the privacy of their own bedrooms.
We also encourage family and friends to take their loved ones on outings. A telephone call in advance will allow us to prepare our residents for their trip. Families can stay in touch at all times through the management team or through the designated key worker. |
